The Similan Island chain has a total of nine granite islands, 55 miles north west of Phuket. This area boast fantastic snorkeling and is considered in the top ten diving/snorkeling locations in the world.
SURIN ISLANDS:
Further north than the Similan Islands close to the Myanmar/Burma border is a small island group that is home to a small number of sea gypsies still living a simple traditional fishing lifestyle, unaffected by the pace of the modern world.
PHI PHI ISLANDS:
Two islands made famous by the movie The Beach starring Leonardo Di Caprio. These islands boast beautiful bays, beaches, cliffs, caves with many options for dining on shore. Rock climbing and diving can be organized on Phi Phi Don.
KOH HAYAI:
In Thai “Ha” means five, meaning you will find five islands at this location. It is an excellent location for an over night stop with a beach and shallow lagoon.

KOH MUK:
This island is not to be missed, it has a “hong” hollow lagoon within the island. Swim through the cave and enter the “hong”, a magical experience. Koh Muk has a protected coast line ideal for exploring by kayak.
KOH LANTA:
Koh Lanta is a short sail from Phi Phi Don. This island has a very laid back atmosphere with many restaurants ashore for dining out. Another ideal place to stop for the night.

PHANG NGA BAY:
Phang Nga Bay to the east of Phuket Islands offers calm sailing conditions all year round. Breath taking scernery every way you look and several islands with “hongs”, the Thai word for “room” within the island. Access to these inner lagoons is only possible by kayak but the experience will be happily remembered for a life time.
BUTANG ISLAND GROUP:
This less well know island group lies just north of the Thai/Malaysian border. Escape the crowds,on these islands you will only find a few basic bamboo bungalows and restaurants. This island group offers excellent anchorages and many opporturnities for exploring onshore.

KOH TARUTAO:
30 miles north east of the Butang Islands, Tarutao has a rich history with many pirate stories, during the second world war it was used to hold prisoners of war. In the north of the island is a river which can be navigated by canoe or dingy deep in to the mangrove forest. The island has some water falls and many hiking trails. Koh Tarutao was the location for a recent series of the “Survivor” tv program.
LANGKAWI:
This Malysian group of islands is not only fasicinating and beautiful but is also duty free, and offers fast ferry services to mainland Malaysia.
